PUNE | MUMBAI: Indian tech companies which deployed unique solutions to return to work securely amid the viral pandemic are now offering those tools to their global customers to help them crank up operations.
Last week, LTI introduced SafeRadius, a return-to-work mobile application which helps with risk-profiling, realtime alerts on accidental congregation, and highlighting hotspots and contact tracing.
“Enterprises globally face a daunting challenge as they prepare for return-to-office scenarios during Covid-19 pandemic….This data-driven platform will be useful for enterprises to manage operations in the most efficient manner and assure employees about their safety and wellbeing,” said Sanjay Jalona, CEO of LTI.
Over the last few weeks, most tech companies have released solutions ranging from thermal scanning to collaboration and employee engagement platforms. “Organisations have to wake up to the fact that they need to be pandemic-ready, going forward. Decision makers need to focus on revival strategies, continuity planning and fast-tracking their digital adoption,” said Jagdish Mitra, chief strategy officer, Tech Mahindra.
The company is providing several back-to-work tools, including smart automation, remote working and collaboration solutions, thermal sensing, workstation as a service, and digital supply chain management, among others.
Ramco Solutions was among the first off the block, updating its facial recognition-based attendance system to include thermal screening and IoT sensor doors. “While not all enterprises can work remotely, a ‘new normal’ comes into being at this stage, where measures like social distancing, touchless attendance system, occupancy planning and controlling crowds at workplace become inevitable…. we are seeing increasing interest from organisations in the pharma, retail, logistics, and airlines segment,” said Virender Aggarwal, CEO, Ramco Systems.
For most companies, this is also a quick revenue earner, as they grapple with project delays and reduced billings in certain cases. “These kinds of services will be additional and most important part of the providers’ existing digital workplace service portfolio, and revenue earned out of these services will be part of their existing digital workplace services revenue, that many providers report,” said Mrinal Rai, principal analyst, ISG.
While most of these companies were already offering smart solutions, the focus has now shifted to securing workplaces with minimal physical contact. “Corporate geofencing, digital badges, solutions to detect density at places will be in demand,” Rai said.
Service providers are also trying to bundle packages which would work with the existing hardware clients have in order to get the solutions running faster.
Infosys pivoted its existing Smart Spaces solution to make it more relevant to the current situation. “What we were doing earlier is enabling offices, stadiums and shops to become smarter in terms of experience and user response… is now the same set of technologies but used differently is enabling them to reopen for business,” said Nitesh Bansal, SVP and head- engineering services, Infosys. “What we are launching now is a return-to-workplaces version of which uses the underlying technologies but enabled with use cases vectored on how to make these spaces safer.”
Zensar launched Humane, an employee engagement platform for its workforce to engage with them during the initial days of working from home. CEO Sandeep Kishore said companies needed to rethink how they engage with their employees during this pandemic, and this provided a platform to do that. The platform covers various employee-focused functions like HR, learning and development, making it easier for the employee to access it from one place.
Birlasoft is seeing demand from customers globally for the solutions it started using internally. “Companies that operate manufacturing plants, offices, store fronts, hotels and airlines, commercial real estate and event venues all have the same need to protect their employees and guests. There are no geographic boundaries; we are implementing intelliOpen in India, US, and Europe,” said Ajit Chawla, Senior Vice President, Global Head of Digital Business Unit.
